Fast PWA Revamps The Man Company’s Mobile UX
Challenges
The Man Company faced significant mobile performance issues, which impacted user engagement and conversions. Their website suffered from slow page loading times, leading to high bounce rates and lower time on site. While native apps were an option, high development and maintenance costs made them impractical. The client needed an efficient, cost-effective alternative that could improve site speed, performance, and mobile user experience.
Solutions
The best approach was to build a Progressive Web App (PWA) using React Javascript. A PWA is a web app that functions like a native app. The only difference is that it renders in a browser (as a web view). PWA can be built using Javascript frameworks such as Angular, except Vue. So, our team at Lucent decided the best approach was to use Reach Javascript.
Overall results:
- Optimized content discoverability and improved SEO results
- Optimized website loading time.
- By preventing the page header and code loading every time a user visits a new page, and only loading what’s necessary (such as a different product) we substantially increased the page load time and overall site speed.
- The above improvements led to a better user experience, translating into increased conversion rates (more sales = more revenue).
- Users increased the pages visited, learning more about the company and the different products they have.
- Users increased the overall time spent on their site...across all browsers and screen types.
- Last but certainly not least, our client saved money using a better, less expensive solution because building a PWA is much cheaper than building a native app.
